I’m getting ready to participate in a very special event during Culture Days (September 28th – 30th). Art In The… will be hosting a group of local artists showing off their craft.
And I was asked to share the art of macrame with you in the form of a make and take friendship bracelet table! Yay!
I’m busy working on a terrific tutorial for micro-macrame chevron friendship bracelets – complete with super awesome pictures.
Come by and make one of these bad boys with me:
Stop by the Norwood Community Centre (87 Walmer St. Winnipeg) on Sunday September 30th for a live demonstration. I’m thinking about doing a massive-macrame chevron scarf made out of spool knitted cords in order to show off the knots you need to make a bracelet. I will have a pile of friendship bracelets started for those who would like to try their hands at knotting one. And another pile of instructions for those who would rather try it later at home. And the best part? You can take your finished bracelet home! Or if you’d rather start it at the community centre and finish it at home – that’s cool too! I will be there from noon until 4 to answer any questions and hopefully do a demonstration or 2 or 3 for anyone who’d like to check it out.
But that’s not all. The organizer of this event is creating a gallery of our artwork as well!
I’m going to bring the quilt I made out of my son’s baby clothes for display.
I’m thinking about bringing some other art pieces that I’m super proud of as well. Maybe Squidward to get us all in a Halloween sort of mood?
But that not all! Several other artists will be there doing live demonstrations and answering questions about the artwork they’ve chosen for the gallery. EEEE!!! I’m so excited to be checking out some of those demonstrations as well.
Some details for you:
Come and see live demonstrations as our local artists show us their art forms! Fibre art, spinning, the pottery process, Paverpol class, sewing/macrame, music, painting (just to name a few) and of course knitting with the Norwood Naughty Knitters (bring your own knitting/crocheting/spinning/needlework and join in if you like). Celebrate art and artists in your community as well as your own creativity.
Be inspired by a Gallery of local artists work.
