With this Pokemon Go craze happening, I thought I’d work on a few little Pokemon pals for my kids.

Wanna make a Weedle?

Here’s how:

Supplies Needed:

  • light brown yarn (I think the colour I used was a little too light but when I tried the darker brown it looked like I was crocheting a little turd and that didn’t sit right with me hahaha)lack embroidery
  • G hook or hook of your choice that will make a tight crochet that can be stuffed
  • pink yarn
  • white yarn
  • black embroidery thread
  • a pipecleaner to add shape to your design

Time Needed:

Not much time is needed if you know how to crochet. I made this Weedle in about an hour while writing the pattern out at the same time.

Skill Needed:

Easy. Only simple single crochet with increases and decreases. You will have to know how to crochet in back loops only to make Weedle appear more wormlike.

Body:

Work in continuous rounds to make the body.

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from the hook

Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)

Round 3: (1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch) around (18)

Round 4: (1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch) around (24)

Round 5 – sc around (24)

Round 6: (sc in each of the next 3 stitches, sc 2 together) around (18)

Round 7: (sc in next stitch, sc 2 together) around (12)

Start stuffing the body. If you want to shape your Weedle, insert the pipecleaner now in order to bend your design the way you want. (See photo)
